Masters
In This Hall 2001 (Pete Levin Music PLM2001)
10 years after Gramavision's
catalog was sold and buried, Pete remixed the tracks and produced this reissue
of his 2nd Christmas CD. Same cast of characters - Pete's electronic
orchestrations, driven by Danny Gottlieb's live drums and percussion. The
arrangements of the popular holiday songs are just as fresh today as when the CD
was first released. As an added bonus, this CD includes remixes of two
songs from Pete & Danny's 1989 release, "The New Age of
Christmas".

Meditations (Alternate Mode 10022) |

Harmony (Alternate Mode 10015)
Produced by percussionist Mario Deciutiis,
Pete created this CD in 1998 specially for massage therapy and relaxation, to be direct
mail marketed exclusively by Alternate Mode Productions. The recording - done
entirely with Pete's synthesizers - is very textural, incorporating electronic,
organic and environmental sounds.

Crystals
(Alternate Mode
10030)
"Crystals" is the sequel recording to "Harmony". Alternate Mode Records questioned over 500 massage therapists to learn what they wanted for music to accompany a session. Based on their input, keyboardist Pete Levin created "Harmony", made up of four pieces not only create a calming and restorative atmosphere, but are each exactly 15 minutes long. Pete did it that way for the dual purposes of establishing a symmetry to the music set (high artistic goals), and so therapists can easily time a session to the music. (practical real world!)

|
Reflections (Alternate Mode 10019)
In 1999 Pete and Mario Deciutiis recorded
this CD as a companion follow-up to "Harmony", also designed for massage therapy
and relaxation. Its also done entirely on synthesizers, but there are no
environmental sounds on this one. The chants and Mario's exotic electronic
percussion grooves are a little bit more dominant.

Party In The Basement (Gramavision 79456)
A tribute to Gil Evans, Pete's first solo record
since the 70's features many fellow Evans alumni, including Lew Soloff (trumpet), Alex
Foster (sax), Mike Stern (guitar), Kevin Kuhn (guitar), Howard Johnson (tuba, bari sax),
Dave Bargeron (trombone), Mark Egan (bass), Danny Gottlieb (drums), and Lenny White
(drums).

|
A Solitary Man (Gramavision R279457)

90's, Alex Foster (saxes), Jeff Berlin (bass), Manolo Badrena (perc), and Cliff Almond

The New Age Of
Christmas (Atlantic 7 82054-2)
Danny suggested this, the first of several Pete
Levin/Danny Gottlieb duo projects. Pete took Holiday favorites and gave them new twists,
setting them in an Adult Contemporary Jazz style with synthesizer orchestrations. At the
time there was almost nothing else like it. It got extensive airplay and spawned many
others like it.

Masters
In This Hall (Gramavision 79426)
This sequel to "The New Age Of
Christmas" presents a collection of Holiday favorites in a textural jazz
setting. It is built entirely on Pete's synthesizer orchestrations, enhanced by
Danny Gottlieb's "live" drums and percussion.

The Great Grizzly Bear Hunt (Poison Ring 2240)
This album from the 70s was Pete's first
project as producer, as well as band member. A live performance by The Incredible
Broadside Brass Bed Band included band members Tom Kobela (guitar, vocal), Bill Comeau
(guitar, vocal), Vinnie Pasternack (washboard, vocal, gargling), Mark Beiber
(harmonica), Victor Bernadoni (drums), Paul Ossola (bass), and Thelonius Lipshitz (bass
skunk). Featured cuts include "Don't Cry Lady, I'll Buy Your God-Damned
Violets", and their hit single, "Little Dead Surfer Girl". The album and
the band had an underground cult following for years.

Close To You (Three Brothers THB-404F)
Not a CD (or even an album) but a 45 hit
single by the Clams. In 1974 Tony & Pete Levin, Mike Holmes, Steve Gadd, Vinnie
Pasternack and Dixon Van Winkle did a single recording session that produced this top-40
novelty record. The album that was supposed to follow it never happened, and the
group never recorded again. Click here or on the record icon for the complete story
of The Clams. |
